The guide to the Maltese islands
On the 13th June 2012, www.gozoandmalta.com was launched and from then on, it has enjoyed tremendous success. GozoandMalta.com is a comprehensive guide covering various topics that other travel related websites on the islands do not. During its first few months, thousands of visitors have found the website useful in planning their holiday to the Maltese islands.
Browsing through its hundreds of pages and thousands of photos will be your first step in discovering what Gozo, Comino and Malta has to offer. The website is regularly updated with up-to-date content and gives prominence to areas with unique culture and history rather than the usual tourist traps.

The nice weather is back on the island!
Finally the sun is shining back on the island of Gozo and this is the perfect weather to go out. Last weekend (9th - 11th March) the island experienced some of the worse weather I ever saw. The ferry crossing between the island even stopped working on Friday evening and I don't remember the last time bad weather caused to ferry to cancel their operations.
All is history now and as a Maltese proverb says, "wara l-maltemp jigi l-bnazzi" which means after the bad weather comes fine weather. Indeed, this is the type of weather we want and hope it will last because the busy season on the island is approaching. One is expecting a good number of visitors on the first weeks of April due to the Easter holidays. Let's hope this is so and in the meantime check out the following picture which shows the greenery of the island of Gozo after all the rain we experienced!

The Beautiful island of Gozo
Picture above shows the inland sea in Gozo, one of the top attractions on the island. Gozo is the island many visitors admire for its unspoiled countryside and quaint villages. Many visitors seem to return on the island once they visit the first time which shows that the island despite being small in size have lots of things to offer and various places of interest. Gozo is completely different compared to the main island Malta and is definitely a destination on its own right.

Carnival In Gozo
Carnival is certainly the most awaited event on the island of Gozo. Infact amongst all cities and villages on the maltese islands, the one celebrated in Nadur in Gozo is by far the most popular.
This year carnival will happen in the weekend 4th - 6th March and as usual will attract people from all over the islands and dress up in all sorts of weird and funny costume and just go out in the streets to join the fun.

Top three places on Gozo
A small island but full of interesting places to visit. What are the top three locations?
1. Dwejra - The Azure Window and the inland sea are a must for any visitor to Gozo. An ideal place to relax and admire the beauty of this place which is also one of the most popular diving spots in Europe. One will enjoy superb views and amazing rock coastlines.
2. Ramla Bay - The biggest sandy beach on the island which is heaven for families with children. The beach is very safe for swimming. It can be reached from the village of Nadur or Xaghra. It tends to be very hectic in summer.
3. Ggantija temples - Considered to be the oldest freestanding structures in the world, the temples are a must for history lovers but not only. It is a UNESCO World heritage site. The visitor will go back in time upon visiting these manmade religious stuctures.

Car hire in Gozo and Malta Airport transfers

Gozo forms part of the Maltese islands which consists also of Malta and Comino. The island is famous for its environment, culture, history and excellent weather all year round.
In Gozo one will not find an airport. The only airport we have in the maltese islands is in the mainland Malta and is known as the Malta International Airport. Nowadays, lots of other low-cost airlines operate to Malta such as Ryan Air, British Airways and Easyjet. One can make his own way to Gozo either by booking airport transfers or booking a car hire with the airport delivery. I would personally recommend airport transfers especially for first time visitors as this would prove to be less of a hassle.
Renting a car in Gozo is the best way to travel from one place to another. Mayjo car rentals in the oldest and leading car hire company on the island and is a guarantee of customer satisfaction. They offer a wide range of complete packages which give that additional value for money. One can either get a free airport delivery, free airport transfers, discounted prices together with a modern vehicle that will help make the travellers' holiday problem free. The fleet of car hire ranges from economy car rental to luxury car hire and from 4X4 jeeps to minivans for larger group of people. One can either get his car rental delivered at the Malta Airport, Gozo harbour or his accomodation.
Should one book private airport transfers to travel to Gozo, it is recommended to pre book them as otherwise one will find them more expensive from the Malta Airport. One can book a direct transfer from the airport to his/her accomodation in Gozo, meaning the driver will take you all the way even on the ferry. Otherwise one can book a split transfer, meaning one transfer from the Airport to the harbour in Malta and another transfer from Mgarr harbour in Gozo to the destination of your choice. The latter will mean the visitor will need to cross the ferry by himself.
The Gozo channel is the only company that provides ferry transfer from Malta to Gozo and vice versa. Upon your arrival in Gozo you will immediately notice a change of environment as compared to the mainland; much greener and peaceful. With your rent-a-car, you will be able to admire this wonderful island which is certainly one of Europe's best kept secrets.
